Digital&Innovation
THE IMPORTANCE OF INNOVATION

THE ROLE OF TECHNOLOGY, IN PARTICULAR DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY, IS BECOMING INCREASINGLY IMPORTANT IN THE WORLD OF RESTORATION AND CONSERVATION. THAT’S WHY WE HAVE DECIDED TO FOCUS ON THIS WORLD.

Suffice to think of the use of drones, sensors and laser technology; there are an infinite number of tools and devices that permit important operational developments, offering new opportunities in the field of restoration too. These tools offer new possibilities and multiply skills and know-how and worker potential. In this area of the website, we look at the technological applications we have adopted, the opportunities they can create and the solutions they can help us offer.

Gasparoli is significantly improving is hardware and software in order to optimize site activities. Prompt communication and remote control, digital computing, scanners for assessment and 3D printing are just some of the technological innovations the company can offer its clients.

Photogrammetry and aerial photography

Automatic digital photogrammetry and laser scanning make it possible to elaborate three-dimensional models from digital photographs. The company uses these technologies for precise and detailed analysis of the conditions of conservation, for recording and for measuring the interventions carried out.

Thermography for architectural restoration

Thermograms provide thermal maps that show, thanks to different shades of colour, the temperature of the surfaces of materials and the presence of phenomena such as damp, the detachment of covering materials from the support and heat loss.

Sensor technology

The sector concerning maintenance of the cultural heritage has reached a significant level of maturity in terms of reference principles and operational procedures. At the same time, there is an increasingly frequent use of sensor systems for digital control and building management – so-called smart building technology.

The “Smart Preservation” research programme is aimed at investigating the possible application of innovative technologies in the cultural heritage sector, in order to monitor micro-environmental, mechanical and chemical-physical parameters representative of the conditions of risk or activation of processes of decay for prompt intervention.

Remote-controlled sites

The need to keep the site constantly under control, from both a quality and productivity point of view – especially if the site is overseas or very far from head office – has led the company to develop a remote-control system thanks to which, from head office or from any other place, it is possible to query and visually check the progress of work and the quality level achieved. The new potential offered by digital tools (tablets, smartphones and related application software) ensures the real time management of processes, calculations, programme timescales and accounts.
