What we do
AREAS OF INTERVENTION

SURFACES ARE IRREPLACEABLE DOCUMENTS THAT NARRATE BEAUTIFUL STORIES. THEY REGISTER EVERY ALTERATION THAT OCCURS WITH THE PASSING OF TIME AND AS TASTES AND CUSTOMS CHANGE.

Aware of their uniqueness, we know how to preserve material, with its rich heritage of information and intense emotions, for the future.

Expertise and know-how are the cornerstone of every restoration site and guarantee a successful outcome. We’ve made expertise and know-how our main strength. It is thanks to our baggage of humanistic, scientific and technological culture that we can skilfully tackle all kinds of surfaces, ancient or modern, and manage different design choices and operational processes, in line with the ever-changing technological and cultural contexts proposed by the site.

Restoration and maintenance

Correct conservation can only be achieved by adopting a meticulous planning methodology that includes in-depth critical appraisal, designed to raise awareness of the history of the object and its real state of preservation. We identify and study the construction techniques and materials used and the processes of alteration and decay they have been subjected to. By carrying out accurate historical and archive studies and geometrical, photogrammetric and photographic assessments and thanks also to mineralogical-petrographic, chemical, physical and biological studies, we can find the right way to solve any problems we may come across.

RELYING ON OUR SKILLS, KNOW-HOW AND EXPERTISE WE DEAL WITH:

roofing, masonry, stone materials, plaster, frescoes, stuccoes, decorations, graffito work, gilding, stone and bronze sculptures and wood and iron pieces.

Planned conservation

“Take proper care of your monuments and you will not need to restore them” said J. Ruskin over 150 years ago. This is the new challenge for those tasked with handing down the memory of historical sites, through the conservation of the materials used to build them. Carrying out maintenance work with continuity makes it possible to prevent decay, saving significant economic resources. Prevention is a change in vision that looks to the future with confidence and positivity.

Working at height

Continual monitoring, which is essential in planned conservation processes, requires the development of inspection activities in areas of the wall covering most at risk, in particular, roofs, towers and bell towers. To make these interventions feasible and less expensive, we have trained our restorers and architects to carry out temporary work at height, using rope-guided access and positioning systems. Technical ability, use of appropriate personal protective equipment and know-how in the diagnostics and operational phases guarantee faster, less expensive and more effective results.

Diagnostics and asessments

Analysis (on-site and laboratory) and assessment (geometric, material, decay) are fundamental fact-finding activities. The company has dedicated operational and instrumental resources to developing assessment activities to support clients and professional figures. Site diagnostics is carried out partly using in-house tools and technical personnel and partly through external specialists and consultants, as is the case with laboratory analyses (specialist laboratories, ICVBC-CNR).

To support designers, we offer:

  • geometric assessment, mapping of materials and conditions of decay
  • on-site investigations: rising damp, thermography, video inspections, capillary absorption, etc.
  • mineralogical-petrographic laboratory investigations, stereomicroscopy, x-ray diffraction, SEM microscope, infrared and Raman spectroscopy, etc.
Design consultancy

The company’s in-house technical personnel (architects, restorers, art historians) is on hand to work with clients and their designers to assist them in preparing restoration projects. These are skills and know-how of great cultural and technical importance that are extremely useful, from as early as the project phase, in order to perfect execution procedures, bills of quantities, technical specifications and operational details that make it possible to define, with extreme precision, the technical and economic boundaries of the intervention project.

Training

Training is the cornerstone of corporate activity and develops on two complementary fronts. One is internal to the company where, thanks to a programme established annually, operational and technical personnel are kept constantly up-to-date. The company also offers both basic and more specialist training services, even for a wider public, thanks to dedicated courses or through its engineers who hold training courses run by various organisations (professional associations, training organisations, etc.)
