Palazzo Arcivescovile, Milan

Gasparoli

The palace was designed by Pellegrino Tibaldi between 1566 and 1595 at the request of Carlo Borromeo, with the aim of uniting, around the Cathedral, the residence of the Archbishop and those of the Canons. During the construction phases, the ancient Visconti walls and subsequent 15th-century modifications were largely preserved. The palace is organized around an imposing double-loggia porch, constructed with vaulted coverings, from which the individual residences of the Canons overlook the courtyard.
