Memorie di Valore: the podcast that tells the restoration to those who love the cultural heritage

Restoration is not only a technical discipline. It is a way of reading time, understanding history and taking responsibility to guard what we have inherited.
Yet, too often, the debate on restoration remains confined to specialist environments. The great theories, the principles guiding the interventions of conservation and the thought of the masters who built this discipline are rarely told with a language accessible to the general public.
From this reflection Memories of Value, the new podcast of Gasparoli dedicated to the culture of restoration, preservation and enhancement of the Italian architectural heritage.
A trip between Theory, History and Shipyard
Each historic building holds a memory. Every restoration is a dialogue between past and future. For this reason we chose the format of the podcast: a tool able to accompany the listener during a trip, a walk or a moment of pause, transforming complex concepts into engaging stories. In every episode, Memories of Value three basic dimensions of restoration:
- the Theory, through the thought of the great masters who have defined the way we look at the historical heritage today;
- the History, recounting buildings, monuments and places that represent the memory of our cities;
- the Year, where those principles form thanks to the daily work of restorers, artisans and professionals.
The aim is to show that there are not only techniques and materials behind each conservation intervention, but ideas, responsibilities and cultural choices.
The great masters of restoration told to all
John Ruskin, Eugène Viollet-le-Duc, Alois Riegl, Max Dvořák, Cesare Brandi.
They are fundamental names for those who study restoration, but often little known outside the academic field. Yet their reflections still influence today the way we decide to preserve a historic building, restore a facade or intervene on a monument.
In Memories of Value we chose to tell these authors not as simple theoretical references, but as protagonists of a story made of ideas, insights and debates still extraordinary. Because understanding their thinking means understanding why we remain and, above all, as We choose to. Listen to all audio streaming platforms.
